This is a feature you can disable in the Privacy & Sharing Settings.
Click on the green Vegas World button in the upper left corner of the screen, then click on Settings. From the Settings page, click on the Privacy & Sharing tab. Scroll down and look for the "Show persistent whispers" option. Uncheck the box next to it, and this will remove those older whisper messages.
